Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

The undergraduate degree programs prepare students for professional careers or graduate study. The programs require a minimum of 120 semester credit hours of academic work. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0; complete the program requirements in the major including engineering design requirements; complete the university General Education requirements; and, fulfill the university's residence requirements.

Master's Degree Requirements

The Master's Degree programs require a minimum of 30 credit hours. Thesis or non-thesis options are available in all MS degree programs. Students are expected to maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Many courses are offered in the late afternoon or early evening to allow students to complete the programs on a part-time basis.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

The Ph.D. in Engineering requires a minimum of 60 credit hours beyond the master's degree. The Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering requires a minimum of 60 credit hours beyond the master's degree. Students must pass the Ph.D. qualifying and candidacy examinations, complete a department approved plan of study, and successfully complete and defend a dissertation. Students may begin the Ph.D. programs with a bachelor's degree. Most courses are offered in the late afternoon to allow practicing professionals to begin the programs on a part-time basis.
