Graduate Admission to the College of Engineering

Admission in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science is at the department level.

Graduate Admission to an Engineering Department

The application fee is $105 for domestic applicants and $125 for international applicants, the Fall application deadline is
December 1. Students must apply on the Internet. Entering students normally are expected to have completed the requirements for a bachelor's degree with at least a 3.00 GPA in all coursework taken in the junior and senior years
and in the undergraduate major. An undergraduate degree in
engineering or a related field is normally required. Students entering the Engineer/Ph.D. program normally are expected to have completed the requirements for the master's degree with at least a 3.25 GPA and to have demonstrated creative ability. Normally the M.S. degree is required for admission to the Ph.D. program. Exceptional students, however, can be admitted to the Ph.D. program without having an M.S. degree. Applicants must submit both the general and departmental application forms online, along with complete official transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and GRE scores (General Test only).

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

In addition to the graduate admissions requirements for domestic students, a minimum score of 560 on the paper TOEFL or 87 on the internet TOEFL are required. The minimum required IELTS score is 7.0.
