Engineering College Description and Special Characteristics

Engineering education at Princeton is distinguished by technical excellence as well as a broad exposure to the economic, political, artistic, and other social contexts that drive and are driven by technological development. The Keller Center for Innovation in Engineering Education builds on this unique combination of depth and breadth.
Engineering education at Princeton emphasizes the fundamental principles of mathematics and the physical and
engineering sciences and is broadened by substantial opportunities for study in the social sciences, the life sciences, and the humanities. Each engineering undergraduate can develop an academic program that reflects his or her aspirations and interests within a general framework of requirements. The depth and flexibility of the program make it a sound background for engineering practice or graduate study in engineering, science, business, law, or medicine. Engineering students also participate in many interdepartmental certificate programs.

Princeton Engineering combines deep expertise in the core disciplines of engineering and applied science with broad opportunities for collaboration - creating an excellent environment for learning and for high-impact research. Prospective graduate students apply to one of the school's six departments, but have many possibilities for collaborating with professors and students from other engineering departments as well as from the natural sciences, the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, and the Bendheim Center for Finance.
