Entrance Requirements and Recommendations

Requirements

Admission to UTC must provide a completed application, official high school transcript, ACT or SAT scores, and the nonrefundable application fee. Applications with high school equivalency diplomas should submit scores from the GED test as well as official transcripts of completed high school work. High school units required: English (4), Algebra (2), Geometry (1), Lab Science (2), American History (1), World History/World Geography or European History (1), single foreign language (2), and visual or performing arts (1), for a total of 14 units.

Regular admission is granted to graduates of approved high schools who meet one of the following two descriptions: a) a high school GPA of at least 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) and a minimum score of 17 on the ACT (or 810 SAT) and completion of all 14 required high school units, or b) a high school GPA of at least 2.00 and a minimum score of 21 on the ACT (980 SAT) and completion of all 14 required high school units. Conditional admission may be granted to students meeting some but not all requirements listed for Regular Admission.
