Admissions Information

Graduate Admission to the College of Engineering

Requirements for admission: $85.00 application fee, Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general exam, (subject exam required for Computer Science and Applied Physics doctoral programs), Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic) examination required for applicants whose Bachelor's degree was received in a country where English is not the official and spoken language, three letters of recommendations, academic transcript from each college or university attended, personal statement, resume, and the online graduate admission application.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Entrance requirements for International Students are the same. All students must present official transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, and resume to be considered into the graduate programs at The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University. Students who earned their Bachelor's Degree, or U.S. equivalent degree in a country where English is not the native or spoken language, must submit official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic).

Residency Requirements

Students enrolled in the Master of Science (M.S.) programs must complete the entire minimum 30 point program at Columbia University. Transfer credits are not permitted into the M.S. programs. Students may receive advanced standing toward their Ph.D. by submitting official documentation of the M.S. degree.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

Transfer applications are not accepted. Students must apply through the regular graduate admissions process.Transfer credit is not accepted towards master's degree requirements.
