Admissions Information

Graduate Admission to the College of Engineering

For domestic students, admission to a graduate program is based primarily upon an applicant's previous academic record from roughly the last two years or 60 semester credit hours. For international applicants, since the grade-point-average is not necessarily a correct indicator, other criteria are used. Two official transcripts of all previous academic work must be submitted along with the Application for Admission to the Graduate School.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

A minimum TOEFL score of 550 for the paper-based test or 79 on the Internet-Based/Next-Generation TOEFL.

Entrance Requirements for Non-Resident Students

For domestic students, admission to a graduate program is based primarily upon an applicant's previous academic record from roughly the last two years or 60 semester credit hours. For international applicants, since the grade-point-average is not necessarily a correct indicator, other criteria are used. Two official transcripts of all previous academic work must be submitted along with the Application for Admission to the Graduate School.

Residency Requirements

The doctoral student is required to spend at least two continuous semesters (summers excluded) as a full-time student on campus. Students of the masters and doctoral programs must be enrolled during the semester they graduate. Students may transfer, with departmental approval, graduate credit from an accredited graduate school up to 12 hours in a master program. Doctoral programs, with the permission of the student's department, may include transfer work up to a maximum of one-third of the course work required, exclusive of acceptable hours in a master's program.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in all graduate work.
