Engineering College Description and Special Characteristics

The Swenson College of Science and Engineering (SCSE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) offers engineering, science, mathematics, and computer science programs. Both baccalaureate and master degrees are available. The campus Air Force ROTC is affiliated with the college. SCSE is the largest college on the UMD campus and one of the largest in the University of Minnesota system. Programs and research facilities within or closely associated with the college include the Large Lakes Observatory, a Planetarium, Greenhouse, Herbarium, the Sea Grant, the Center for Freshwater Research, and the Natural Resources Research Institute. Funded professorships include the Jack Rowe/Minnesota Power Professorship in Electrical Engineering and the 3M McKnight Distinguished Visiting Professorship in Technology Development.
