Engineering College Description and Special Characteristics

Since 1902, Trine University has provided a premier educational experience to students through small classes and a faculty committed to quality teaching in the Allen School of Engineering and Technology. The Ketner School of Business and the Jannen School of Arts and Sciences work closely with the Allen School of Engineering and Technology to provide students with opportunities to expand their programs of study. The emphasis at Trine University is on student learning and hands-on laboratory instruction. Undergraduate research opportunities are available in select areas. All classes and laboratories are taught by experienced faculty. Questions are welcomed through the faculty's open-door policy. A cooperative education experience is encouraged and requires approximately one additional year for program completion. Five ABET accredited engineering programs (chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering), along with newly created programs in biomedical engineering and software engineering prepare students for entry-level professional practice positions or for graduate study in their respective technical field or business. Minors are currently available in aeronautical engineering, architectural engineering, bioprocess engineering, environmental engineering, metallurgical engineering, robotics, and entrepreneurship.
