Other Student Support Programs

Orientation programs are held during the summer and at the beginning of each term for all freshmen and transfers. Other support programs include: Freshman Experience (assist in the transition to college life) and Faset (familiarization with the surroundings of Tech), Freshman Experience Learning Assistance Program (provides free tutoring in the residence halls Sunday through Thursday), Math Labs (a walk-in tutoring service); Learning Resource Center (provides one-on-one tutoring in calculus,physics and chemistry).The counseling Center offers workshops to help students succeed academically,professionally and personally. The Career Services Office offers assistance in career planning.

Dual Degrees

Undergraduate Engineering Dual Degree Program Description

Under the Dual Degree Program, students attend a participating Dual Degree school for three years and then come to Georgia Tech for approximately two years. Students participating in the Dual Degree Program may seek a degree from any undergraduate degree-granting program in the College of Engineering. The student receives a bachelors degree from the first school and a bachelors degree in one of the engineering disciplines.The list of participating schools includes many of the schools in the University System of Georgia, and several traditionally black colleges and predominantly women's colleges.

Include all expenditures associated with grants and contracts specifically budgeted for externally sponsored research and associated programs and expenditures associated with all gifts auditably used for research. Include expended funds provided by the following external sources:

  1. Federal Government
  2. State Government
  3. Foreign Governments
  4. Industry
  5. Non-Profit Organizations (e.g. foundations)
  6. Individuals
  7. Local Government

The expenditures reported should be only those funds provided by organizations, agencies, and individuals external to the institution. Cost sharing/matching funds should be included only if provided from sources external to the institution.

Only State government funds that were obtained competitively or as matching funds associated with other externally funded programs should be included. State funds that are part of the normal operating budget should not be included regardless of purpose.

For all joint or contracted projects or sub-projects, only the portion of the center research performed by faculty, staff, and students of the affiliated engineering school should be credited to that school. Expenditures for capital costs of research laboratory building construction should not be included.

Expenditures for research laboratory renovations should not be included unless the renovation funds expended came from grants and contracts expressly intended for the direct support of engineering research.

Any portion of academic year and/or summer salary for any researcher that is not derived from external research grants or contracts should not be counted.

Research centers listed as "WITHIN an engineering department" on the Research Centers page (screen 7) of the College of Engineering Profile, will not have their expenditures added to the school's total research expenditures. Graduate Engineering Dual Degree Program Description

There is a Dual Degree Program between the College of Management and Mechanical Engineering. Persons interested should consult with advisors in the College of Management as well as the George Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering.
There is a joint Biomedical Engineering Ph.D. program offered through the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering. The degree is conferred jointly by both Georgia Tech and Emory.
The School of Biomedical Engineering participates with the Emory University School of Medicine with regard to the M.D./Ph.D.program.
