Other Student Support Programs

NSF research projects at City College, aimed largely but not exclusively at underrepresented minority and women students and students with disabilities, include CASI, LSAMP, and MBRS. Other government sponsors include NASA(USAR program) and NIH (Biomedical Engineering). All new CCNY freshmen must participate in a New Student Seminar (orientation). Tutoring and academic enrichment programs are in place, as are career and professional development services. The Grove School of Engineering Office of Student Development and other campus-based offices coordinate pre-freshman summer programs, and provide academic and personal support services to participants. The Office of Student Development provides and handles the referral of Grove students for academic, personal and professional career support services. Peer counseling is also available. Over 30 national engineering- and science- related organizations have student chapters on campus, including several national honor societies. Engineering students can participate in a plethora of undergraduate and summer research projects coordinated by the Office of Undergraduate Research.The College offers intensive summer courses and a Writing Center to assist students with writing assignments.
