Admissions Information

Graduate Admission to the College of Engineering

*Application fee: $60.00 for Domestic students; $75.00 for International students
•300 word statement of purpose
•Three recommendation letters
•Copies of transcripts from all universities attended; copies acceptable at this time " originals will be required when you are accepted into the program.
•Copy of Diploma for Bachelor’s Degree OR letter from university stating when degree will be conferred

Graduate Admission to an Engineering Department

A student who wishes to enter a program leading to the degree of MSE, MSECE, or MSME must apply for regular admission and must hold a baccalaureate degree in the corresponding undergraduate engineering discipline. A student without a baccalaureate degree in the corresponding undergraduate engineering discipline may be considered if the equivalent of studies required for a baccalaureate at Purdue has been completed.

Unconditional Admission:

The student’s undergraduate grade point average must meet or exceed 3.0 (B equivalent) on a 4.0 scale.

Conditional Admission:

An applicant with an undergraduate grade point average less than 3.0/4.0 may be granted conditional admission.

Require GPA of 3.0/4.0 or better for the first 12 credits of graduate work

In some cases an applicant may be advised or required to complete prerequisites or additional courses to fill deficiencies in academic background.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

*Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average:
3.0 or equivalent required
•TOEFL for Non-Native English Speakers:
Minimum Paper-Based Test (PBT) Score Required: 550
Minimum Internet-Based Test (IBT) Overall Score Required: 77
With the following minimum section requirements:
Reading: 19
Listening: 14
Speaking: 18
Writing: 18
•IELTS (Academic Module):
An alternative to the TOEFL, scores of 6.5 or higher will be accepted
•Pearson Test of English (PTE) (Academic Module):
An alternative to the TOEFL, scores of 58 or higher will be accepted
• TWE for Non-Native English Speakers:
Not required, but recommended
