Undergraduate Admission to the College of Engineering

New students apply to Dartmouth College and do not declare a major until their sophomore year.

Undergraduate Admission to an Engineering Department

Students in the spring term of their sophomore year complete a major card, have it signed by an engineering advisor and submit it to Dartmouth and the Engineering Department.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Students may apply to Dartmouth College through the Common Application or Coalition Application. Forms required for First Year Admission include: Personal Information and Personal Statement, Secondary School Report, two letters of recommendation from teachers, Peer Evaluation, Mid-Year Secondary School Report, and the Common Application Supplement. The following standardized tests are also required of all applicants: the SAT or ACT. Two SAT subject tests are recommended, but not required. Interviews, conducted by alumni, are optional. The application deadline for Early Decision is November 1, the deadline for Regular Decision is January 1. International students whose native language is not English or have not been schooled in an English language secondary school must also submit the TOEFL.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

Students who have graduated from secondary school with a high school diploma or a GED and have enrolled in a degree-granting institution, should apply as transfer applicants. If you are an international student at a U.S. university or a university overseas, you must use the transfer application.
