Admissions/Transfers

Admission to Engineering Technology College

Admission is open to high school graduates who demonstrate the academic preparedness, maturity, and seriousness of purpose with backgrounds appropriate to their chosen program of studies. The admission criteria for Fall 2017~Spring 2018 FTIACs (first time in any college) are as follows:

(1) Meet program standard of minimum ACT composite score of 18 or SAT 950 and high school GPA of 2.75 (2.5 â€" 2.74 to be reviewed at the college level). See program requirements below.

OR

(2) Meet the program standard of a minimum ACT composite score of 17 or SAT 910 and a minimum high school GPA of 2.50.

AND (3) or (4), below

(3) Meet department admissions standards as outlined on this criteria sheet to be admitted to a specific degree program.

(4) Be admitted as a program pre-technical student until the program specific requirements of (3) above are met, at which time admission to the degree program will be granted.

Internal and external University transfer applicants for AAS programs who meet math level requirements, but have less than a program specific GPA
Requirement, are to be referred to the College Dean’s Office.

Admission to an Engineering Technology Department

Architectural Technology admission criteria is a Composite ACT 19 or SAT 990. Also need Math ACT 19 or SAT 500.

Automotive Service Technology, Building Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, CAD Drafting/Tool Design, Electronics (Industrial Technology), HVACR Technology, Manufacturing Technology, and Welding Technology admission criteria is a Composite ACT 18 or SAT 950. Also need Math ACT 19 or SAT 500.

Heavy Equipment Technology admission criteria is a Composite ACT 17 or SAT 910. Also need MATH ACT 15 or SAT 400.

Plastics & Polymer Engineering Technology admission criteria is a Composite ACT 18 or SAT 950. Also need Math ACT 24 or SAT 580. Also need High School Chemistry.

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

A student from another country should apply for admission at least six months in advance of the planned arrival at Ferris State University. In addition to regular admission procedures, an international student must follow these procedures: 1. Include an official copy of the scores of the TOEFL. 2. Applicant must provide proof of adequate financial resources.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

Architecture & Sustainability requires college GPA 2.75 with AAS in Architecture or equivalent, Math 120, Physics 211.

Automotive Engineering Technology requires college GPA 2.5 with Composite scores of ACT 18 or SAT 950 and Math ACT 19 or SAT 500.

Automotive Management requires college GPA 2.3 with AAS in Auto Service or Heavy Equipment. Or without AAS, will need Test Composite of ACT 18 or SAT 950 and Math Test score 19 or SAT 500.

Computer Networks & Systems requires 2.35 College GPA with Composite of ACT 18 or SAT 950 and Math ACT 19 or SAT 500.

Construction Management requires College GPA of 2.5, AAS in Architecture, Building Construction, Civil Engineering Technology with Math 120 competency and Physics 211.

Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology requires College GPA 2.35, AAS in Electronics with Math 126/130 competency.

Facility Management requires College GPA of 2.75, AAS in Architecture or equivalent or 60 credit hours and Math 115 competency.

HVACR and Energy Management requires College GPA 2.5, AAS in HVAC.

Industrial Technology and Management requires College GPA 2.5, minimum of 48 semester hours of transferrable related course credit, work experience, completion of Math 110 and English 150 or equivalent.

Manufacturing Engineering Technology requires College GPA of 2.5, AAS in manufacturing curriculum or 57 semester hours of college coursework satisfying specified prerequisites, and Math 126/130 competency.

Mechanical Engineering Technology requires College GPA of 2.5, AAS in Mechanical Technology with 2.7 GPA in tech-specific courses, and Math 216/220 competency.

Plastics Engineering Technology requires College GPA of 2.75, AAS in Plastics & Polymer and Math 126/130 competency.

Product Design Engineering Technology requires High School GPA of 2.75 or College GPA of 2.5. Composite scores of ACT 20 or SAT 1030. Math ACT 19 or SAT 500. English ACT 17 or SAT 450 ERW.

Rubber Engineering Technology requires College GPA of 2.75, AAS in Plastics & Polymer and Math 120/126 competency.

Welding Engineering Technology requires College GPA of 3.0, AAS in Welding, Math 130 placement, EEET 301 Placement, Physics 211, ETEC 140, and MATL 240 equivalents required.
