Other Student Support Programs

Orientation activities are organized for first-year undergraduates by Engineering student leaders and advisors in collaboration with University student leaders, advisors and staff. Graduate orientation activities and international orientation activities are organized by the Student Success Office, respective graduate and international support offices and faculties.

Student Success Office
The Student Success Office plans and promotes events, programs, and resources to help all students in their transitions from high school to university and maintain academic success.

The mission of the Federation of Students Diversity Education Team is to contribute to the creation of an inclusive campus community by coordinating activities and building resources in order to build knowledge and appreciation for diversity among undergraduate students of the University of Waterloo. The Feds Diversity Education Team envisions an inclusive Waterloo community where diversity is celebrated and all members feel safe, welcomed, respected, supported, and valued.

The Engineering Undergraduate Office and First Year Office provide academic and personal counselling services to undergraduate students. These offices also provide links to tutors for students and offer various workshops to assist students in all aspects of the transition to university life. The University Counselling Services Office serves all undergraduate and graduate students.

Women in Engineering Committee
At Waterloo Engineering, the participation of women at all levels is important to us. That's why we established the Women in Engineering Committee. This committee reaches out to young women in elementary and high school, organizes speakers and social events for students and professors, and works hard to develop a support system for women in engineering at Waterloo.

Access Ability Services
The mission of the University of Waterloo Access Ability Services is to ensure an equitable opportunity for persons with disabilities through promoting access to all programs, services and facilities in partnership with all university departments. Students, faculty, staff and campus visitors can contact the office for information, academic accommodations, and support services.

Waterloo International (part of Student Success Office)
International students form an important part of the University of Waterloo students' community, with more than 3,400 international students studying at UW each year from more than 90 countries. Waterloo International has many resources and student services in place to support the international student population. International Student Advisors can help international students meet other students, get answers to their questions, and find the resources they need to ensure their success.

Co-operative Education and Career Action
Co-operative education and career Action (CECA) administers the co-operative education system and career-related services for the University of Waterloo. This service is available to all students and alumni for career-specific counselling, and to help determine and facilitate co-op employment opportunities for current students.
