Undergraduate Admission to the College of Engineering

2 years social science, 4 years English, 4 years math (elementary algebra, geometry, intermediate algebra, and pre-calculus), 2 years science with lab, 2 years foreign language (same language), 1 year visual or performing arts, 1 year college prep electives

Undergraduate Admission to an Engineering Department

4 years of high school math
2 years of high school lab science
at least a 550 on Math SAT or 23 of Math ACT

Entrance Requirements for Foreign Students

Same as in-state except the minimum Eligibility Index is 3,570 - may be higher depending on the quantity and quality of applicants. (https://www.csum.edu/web/admissions/first-time-freshmen). Must submit an SAT or ACT test score with application.

At least 70 semester units where English is the primary language of instruction or a TOEFL score of 500 (paper) or 61 (internet version), or an IELTS score of 6.0.

Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students

Lower Division:
Applicants who have completed fewer than 60 semester units (90 quarter units) by the time they plan to enter the California Maritime Academy will be considered Lower Division Transfer Students.
Have at least a 2.0 cumulative College GPA (2.4 for non-California residents) and be in good academic standing at the last college attended.
Fulfill first-time freshman eligibility index and all CSU/UC a-g college prep requirements through high school and, if necessary, college coursework.
Applicants to all other majors must also submit SAT or ACT scores unless high school GPA was above 3.0
2. Take and pass with a “C” grade or better the following courses:
•English Composition (fulfilling CSU General Education requirement A2)
•Any college level math course (fulfilling CSU General Education requirement B4). A pre-calculus course is highly recommended for all majors.
•Applicants applying for Mechanical Engineering must complete the pre-requisite course to calculus.

Upper Division:
Applicants who have completed more than 60 semester units (90 quarter units) by the time they plan to enter the California Maritime Academy are considered Upper Division Transfer Students.
Upper Division Transfer Student Admission Requirements:
Have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA (2.4 for non-residents) and be in good academic standing at the last college attended.
