Degree Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Requirements

The degree requirements for each engineering program are consistent with the criteria established by ABET. (The College determines the acceptability of transferred lower division courses by ensuring that they meet the same standards as the established course syllabi used by UTA. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has established Fields of Study for some engineering fields which inform how certain transferred courses apply to UTA engineering degrees.)

Master's Degree Requirements

The degree requirements for each engineering program vary with degree program.

Doctoral Degree Requirements

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is the highest degree offered by the College of Engineering. The degree is awarded only for academic work of distinction through which the student demonstrates superior scholarship and a capacity for original work. All departments and programs have requirements for a high level of scholarly achievement that must be met by successful doctoral candidates. In all doctoral programs, the basic requirements are that a student (1) attain mastery of a field of knowledge as determined by the appropriate Committee on Graduate Studies and demonstrated in a general examination, and (2) give evidence of a capacity to complete a significant program of original research by preparation of a dissertation and presentation of an oral defense of the dissertation.
